1. How would you describe your overall level of satisfaction with us as your tour operator?
We had a fantastic time travelling around Japan, basically following the Best of Japan self-guided itinerary plus a few extra days added. All the arrangements worked perfectly throughout & the hotels were of a great standard and in excellent locations. The info pack and destination guides gave us superb information to help us throughout our trip, so much so that we hardly used our Lonely Planet guidebook. We really enjoyed having a local guide on our first day in each of the bigger cities as this helped to settle in and get our bearings, plus it taught us about the history & culture of the places we were seeing, and gave us chance to find out about current Japanese life. Our only regret was not making our 3 week trip longer so that we could have discovered even more of this wonderful country.

2. Consultant name and satisfaction rating:
In the initial planning discussions for our trip Will was really knowledgeable and helped us shape our itinerary, in particular choosing between some places (Kanazawa versus Takayama Nikko versus Hakone). Will recommended hotels for us and was easily able to come up with alternative suggestions when we wanted something a little different. We had several follow up conversations with Will as our trip approached, and each time we spoke I always felt Will had genuine knowledge of the country and could give us good honest advice, even down to smaller practical details about how best to manage the luggage forwarding process. Importantly I always felt I could ring Will up and ask because he was always friendly and ready to help.

5. Please give us your comments on the transport included in your package.
The shared transfer from Haneda to Tokyo worked very well, and the private transfer to Haneda at the end of our trip was luxurious! Of course the trains we used throughout our trip were punctual and a great way to get around - perhaps contrary to expectations, I sometimes found the bullet trains too fast (yes, really!) - as it was hard to enjoy the rapidly passing scenery. Whereas the express trains (to Hakone & to/from Takayama) were a much better experience in terms of enjoying the Japanese countryside, so I'd recommend everyone to take some trains that aren't bullet trains for some of their journeys.

6. Please comment on any professional guiding included in your package?
We had a local guide 4 times during our tour, 3 were Japanese with excellent spoken English, and one was a Canadian who had lived in Japan for many years. We really enjoyed having a local guide on our first day in each of the bigger cities as this helped to settle in and get our bearings, plus it taught us about the history & culture of the places we were seeing, and gave us chance to find out about current Japanese life. In particular we thought Seiya in Kyoto was very professional and helpful because he left some suggested itineraries at the hotel reception desk for us to could consider before meeting up with him, which saved us time the following day.
